Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest

Participants can be individuals or teams of two. If you are a team, put the second person's name in the comment box. People of all ages and abilities are encouraged to enter and transform concrete squares in Downtown Kearney into vibrant works of art. Space is limited, so sign up now. The deadline is Sunday, October 7th. Check-in starts at 2:45 PM at the Museum of Nebraska Art. Chalk and directions to sponsored squares will be provided. The sky is the limit with creativity, but drawings must be family-friendly and stay within the designated area. Judging will be from 5:00-6:00 PM and the winner will be announced shortly thereafter. First place will win $300 and second place will win $100. Good luck and have fun! Spectators can walk the Bricks and watch contestants or put their own creativity to work with William Estrada and his mobile street art cart at the intersection of Central Avenue and 24th Street. He is a Chicago art educator and the keynote speaker at this year's annual Nebraska Art Teachers Association's conference hosted by UNK.
