This role supports the Director in ensuring smooth and safe operations within the department. This multifaceted role includes driving responsibilities, vehicle upkeep, administrative support, and safety monitoring. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Director in all areas of department operations
Drive assigned morning, afternoon, and occasional midday routes
Transport students and staff for activity trips as needed
Serve as a shuttle driver for vehicle repairs to support the mechanic
Participate in and support school bus evacuation drills
Act as backup for office upkeep when the upkeep specialist is absent
Maintain cleanliness in the bus barn office area:
Empty trash and recycling
Clean bathroom
Sweep, vacuum, and clean office and kitchen areas
Check in with activity drivers to provide assistance and relay concerns to the Director or Operations Coordinators
Monitor activity trips to ensure drivers perform proper post-trip inspections and cleaning; report issues as needed
Fuel and wash activity buses upon request or as needed
Perform weekly inspections of activity buses and report any damage
Assist the White Fleet Specialist in preparing vehicles for activity use
Monitor and restock cleaning supplies and other materials for activity bus fleet
Ensure safety and emergency equipment is properly stocked on special education vehicles, including:
Emergency Response Checklist
First aid kits
Insurance cards and vehicle registration
Assist with snow removal as needed
Demonstrate sound judgment and maintain positive relationships with students, families, and staff
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director or Operations Coordinators
