Century 21 Midlands receives Spotlight Business Award

KEARNEY – The Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce Business & Education Committee presented its October Spotlight Business Award to Century 21 Midlands of Kearney. Committee Vice Chair, Mark Liljehorn, presented the award to Janice Wiebusch and Jack McSweeney.
The Real Estate Office, which is now Century 21 Midlands, located 3423 2nd Ave., first opened in 1979. It was CBS Real Estate of Kearney, which was part of the CBS Real Estate Company in Omaha. They wanted to franchise all over Nebraska, but didn’t realize what all was involved in running a franchise system. Four years later they ended their system. Janice then became part of the Partners Franchise, which was based out of Iowa. They were very progressive and ahead of the times. The company name was Midland Partners and in the early 90’s they decided that franchising wasn’t for them. The Partners office in Norfolk and Janice discussed buying them out but made the decision not to. Janice then looked at numerous franchises and the Century 21 office in Kearney was for sale. In 1992 Janice, purchased that office and became part of the best real estate franchise in the world. It is the largest residential real estate company in the world. The Kearney office was the first Century 21 Franchise sold in Nebraska.
Century 21 Midlands now has 12 full time agents and offer real estate services in brokerage, property management and auctions. They are the only Kearney real estate company that offers their clients a “free move” by using their 14 foot cargo van for 2 full days.
