Kearney Floral receives January Doing Business Award

KEARNEY – The Kearney Chamber of Commerce Colonels presented their January Doing Business Award to Kearney Floral. Colonel Chair, Scott Bazata, presented the award to Todd and Lois Thalken.

Kearney Floral, located at 210 W 21st Street has been a part of the Kearneys business community since 1907. Owner Todd Thalken was first employed as a part-time delivery driver in 1975 while attending what was then Kearney State College. He and his wife Lois purchased the business from O.L. "Jack" Erickson in 1990. The couple expanded the business with new construction and a major remodel of the existing building in 2003.

 
The company is a full-service florist, specializing in cut flowers and green plants, with one of the area's largest selection of direct-from-grower cut flowers and tropical houseplants. They also carry a wide line of home decor and giftware. The business employs 12-15 regular full and part-time employees, with a spike of up to 50 employees on major floral holidays. Kearney Floral Co. is a member of Teleflora, a wire service with over 17,000 members worldwide, where the company has consistently ranked in the top 3 percent for total annual Teleflora orders processed.
