KEARNEY – The Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce Business & Education Committee presented its November Spotlight Business Award to Sandhill Plastics of Kearney. Committee Chair, Mark Liljehorn, presented the award to James Weber.

Sandhill Plastics is a manufacturing specialist founded on the premise of using post-consumer plastics as the raw material in its manufacturing process. This philosophy stems from two years of research showing that, although recycling is popular with the public, there were very few end-uses for the materials being recycled. This left an opening in the recycling loop.

To close that loop, Sandhill Plastics designed and built a sheet line extrusion system that produce a high-quality sheet with the capability to change color, thickness and length. With this system they were able to process over 2.4 million lbs. of plastic in 2015, saving over 36 million milk jugs from the landfill. This not only saves our natural resources, but makes for considerable savings to society.

Sandhill Plastics has been a Kearney Chamber member since 1994. Visit their website, www.sandhillplastics.com or give them a call at 308-236-5025.
