Art After Dark: Omaha's Gilded Age and the Trans-Mississippi and International Exposition of 1898

Join Dr. Wendy Katz, professor at School of Art, Art History & Design at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Dr. Kyle Chattleton, Public Historian at The Durham Museum in Omaha, and MONA's Curator, Karissa Johnson, for a conversation about Omaha’s Gilded Age and the cultural ideals expressed in the Trans-Mississippi and International Exposition 1898, also known as Omaha’s World Fair. Documented in paintings by artist John Ross Key now on view in the exhibition In Search of Ourselves, this program will explore the goals and realities of organizing Nebraska’s most significant cultural event.
