Jim Vakoc: Collecting Kent Bellows Wednesday, September 26 • 2:00 p.m. In the catalogue for the 2010 landmark exhibition Beyond Realism: The Work of Kent Bellows 1970-2005 at Joslyn Art Museum, guest curator Molly S. Hutton, Ph.D., described the work of Bellows as “technically masterful and emotionally gripping.” Collectors of his work are consumed with a passion for it, analogous to the “consuming” personality of the artist himself. Omaha-based vintage car restoration connoisseur Jim Vakoc’s close friendship with Bellows began through a commission. What evolved was a bond, an honorable allegiance based on feelings of belief, truth, and principle. Kent Bellows inspired and ignited his own personal champions whose love and loyalty are intense–no one could wish for a better legacy. Presented in conjunction with Kent Bellows and His Collectors, August 25, 2018 – January 6, 2019.
