Summer is upon us. Along with it comes graduations from many education levels, which makes this time of year ideal to turn children and teens into responsible digital residents. A recent U.S. Cellular survey revealed that 64 percent of parents admit to frequently monitoring their kid’s smartphone use, while 70 percent of families have rules about how to use the device. In honor of Internet Safety Month in June, U.S. Cellular will host a free Device Workshop in Kearney, where associates will share tips to help keep children safe online. The workshop is open to everyone. Attendees do not need to be a U.S. Cellular customer to attend. “We invite residents to visit us to learn how to make the digital journey through cellphones and social media with their children,” said Mike Adams, U.S. Cellular’s director of sales for Nebraska and Iowa. “Whether you have the latest smartphone from Samsung or Apple or any other device, U.S. Cellular recognizes the importance of online safety. We created a customizable agreement to help guide family conversations about smartphone usage, safety and etiquette.” Please call 308-236-2075 for more information or to RSVP.
