Marvel Maring’s Bookbinding Workshop Artist Marvel Maring has been making books since 1995. Trained as a painter, she received her M.F.A. degree from The Art Institute of Chicago in 1991 and her M.F.A. in Book Arts from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa in 2001. This workshop introduces a binding that is ideal for those who want to learn how to turn single sheets of watercolor paper into an artist’s book. A few clever folds, cuts, and figure-eight stitching form the basis of the structure. The book is then strengthened with additional spine support and a reinforced “pocket” cover. It’s a perfect project for beginners. All supplies for the workshop are provided.
