R. HERO Dalmatian Puppy Sculpture Honoring Nebraska?s Firefighters at the Nebraska Firefighters Museum and Education Center Kearny, NE - The Nebraska Firefighters Museum and Education Center will host a public dedication and unveiling of a new sculpture, on Sunday, November 9th at 2:00 PM. The sculpture, ?R. HERO?, will honor firefighters, police officers, first responders, and military service men and women and will serve as a reminder of the sacrifices that these heroic individuals have made. ?R. HERO?, is a 6-foot tall, brightly colored, aluminum, Dalmatian puppy that was designed and crafted by artists Karen and Tony Barone and donated by Bunni and Rick Benaron. The inception of R. HERO came in the wake of so many tragedies and disasters and the need to celebrate those that have helped make the world better. ?R. HERO? sculptures were conceived as public art for fire and police stations, children?s hospitals, children?s museums and other public venues. The unique sculpture series also serves as a valuable teaching aid and is a reminder of the heroism of our country?s first responders. Children can further explore what makes a hero with a fun brightly illustrated children?s book R. Hero: A Dog?s Tale and accompanying work plans for teachers. These new books will available at the dedication. The Nebraska Firefighters Museum and Education Center was selected from the national field of fire stations as the recipient of a new ?R.HERO? sculpture. ?R.HERO? has been made possible by the efforts of Bunni & Rick Benaron, founders of The Hero in You Foundation. Bunni and Rick Benaron created the foundation ?to celebrate our heroes today with public art that catches your eye and makes you stop for a moment to think about the heroes out there who work tirelessly to make the world more secure, those who gave their lives in service to others. But it doesn?t stop there. The Foundation also wants to inspire and encourage the next generation to become heroes. Or as I like to say, they can ?earn their hero spots? by doing heroic deeds for others in their daily lives,? says Bunni and Rick Benaron. The public is invited to attend this dedication ceremony on Sunday, November 9th at 2:00 PM, where the efforts of our local heroes will be recognized. Fire, police, first responders, media and elected officials are asked to RSVP to Ali Abler at 308-338-3473. The mission of The Hero in You Foundation is to celebrate today?s heroes while inspiring the next generation of heroes. By installing large metal Dalmatian puppy sculptures in public places, children and their parents, caregivers and teachers have a visual reminder and conversation starter about the traits of a hero -- respect, honor, bravery and compassion for others.
