Ward Laboratories, Inc. will host an open house to commemorate the opening for their 16,900 square foot expansion, according to founder and President Dr. Ray Ward.
The open house will be Thursday, February 12th from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce conducting grand opening ceremonies at 4:00 p.m.
The new addition will be used primarily to log in client samples and prepare them for testing, Dr. Ward said. Ward Laboratories, Inc. facilities now encompass 32,650 square foot. Ward Laboratories began in Kearney in 1983 in a 3,500 square foot laboratory at Rovar Park. The present building was constructed in 1988-89 and this marks the second building addition according to Dr. Ward. The latest addition more than doubles the company’s operating space.
Ward Laboratories, Inc. analyzes soil, water, feed, plant, manure, fertilizer, wastewater and biological testing for soil health. In 2014 the laboratory analyzed 323,000 samples. Since the laboratory’s inception, more than 4,417,000 samples have been analyzed from nearly every state and seven foreign countries Dr. Ward said.Today, Ward Laboratories, Inc. employs 32 full time employees and 20 part time workers during the fall and early winter with an annual payroll of $1.77 million. Ward Laboratories, Inc. is located at 4007 Cherry Avenue north of Eaton Corporation.
