Come "Salute Our Unsung Heroes," celebrating and thanking our selfless first responders and all hospital workers in Kearney! Sunday, April 12, we are asking healthy community members to come honor our hospital workers at Kearney Regional Medical Center and at CHI Health Good Samaritan. Hospital administrators have given permission and told us when shift changes are taking place. We will start at 6:00 P.M. at Kearney Regional Medical Center in the east parking lot near the emergency entrance, per request of the hospital staff. There will be people outside helping to direct traffic. Music will be played, thanking and saluting our heroes (approximately 3 songs). We are asking participants to either turn on their emergency flashers, or flashing their headlights. We will then caravan over to CHI Health Good Samaritan and park in the main parking lot near the ER entrance, as well as along Avenue A. We will play the same 3 songs as before, and flash headlights. ***We have cleared this with medical staff at both hospitals. ***Doctors are on our planning committee, and said everyone will stay safe AS LONG AS EVERYONE STAYS IN THEIR VEHICLES. We have seen other cities take similar actions, and some of them are standing outside of their cars and holding signs, but our doctors have requested that not take place. For the safety of all involved, please stay inside the vehicles.
