Scouts BSA Troop 339 Information Night

Introducing Troop 339 - Kearney's first Scouts BSA Troop JUST FOR GIRLS! Troop 339 is founded with the following beliefs: Girls benefit from Scouting Girls have fun outdoors Girls are great leaders Girls are able to help their communities Girls can do anything boys can do (maybe even better!) With all of this in mind, Troop 339 is thrilled to welcome girls ages 12 to 17 (or 11-year-olds completing their Arrow Of Light year in a Cub Scout pack or 5th grade) to join the ranks of the first all-girl Troop in Kearney. It is the intention of Troop 339 to introduce young ladies to Scouting through a year-round program that will put the scouts in charge of their own adventures. With guidance from experienced adult leaders, the girls will be able to plan their own meetings and outdoor activities; learn about leadership, teamwork, and service to others; make life-long friends who share a love of Scouting; and do it all while having loads of fun and making memories that will last a lifetime. With the ever-increasing number of girls participating in the local Cub Scout programs but nowhere for them to go next, Troop 339’s leaders felt it was about time these girls had an opportunity to continue their adventures in Scouting in Kearney and the surrounding areas. This dedicated group looks forward to guiding your daughter down the next segment of the Scouting trail, all the way to Eagle, and hopes you’ll come along too. Scouts BSA Troop 339 is being chartered by First Lutheran Church in Kearney, and steered by a team of adults with over 70 years of combined experience in Scouting. In addition to this core group, there will be ample opportunities for parents to participate as a leaders and/or committee members, too. If your daughter (and/or her friends) might be interested in joining the very first patrols of Troop 339, please plan to attend an informational meeting on February 8 at the Kearney Public Library. We will be available upstairs in the South Platte Room from 6:30-8:30pm to answer your questions and talk about how your daughter can benefit from this program. Due to COVID-19, space is limited so these will be open-house style meetings – just stop by when you can and stay as long as you’d like.
