Mental Health Practitioner

Mental health practitioner works as the primary mental health counselor for the UNK student population. This position provides professional individual and group counseling services and outreach to UNK students as well as consultation to university administrators, staff and others who have concerns about the mental/emotional status of UNK students. Position will assist in all areas of UNK Counseling functions. Additional duties as assigned and serves on-call duty on a rotating basis.

  • Assesses and counsels UNK students in individual session or group settings regarding psychological/emotional problems or needs.
  • Develops and implements therapeutic treatment plans; adept at using the DSM 5 for treatment planning.         
  • Maintains timely, appropriate, accurate, and complete records, correspondence; safeguards confidential client information.
  • Provides outreach/education (presentations/trainings) as directed by the Associate Director of UNK Counseling.        
  • Works as a team player by actively participating in weekly staff meetings and departmental meetings. Maintains positive working relationships with colleagues from within cross-professional disciplines.
 
 
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Psychology, Social Work or related field in mental health. ?Licensed as a Mental Health Practitioner in the State of Nebraska
 
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in college mental health preferred. Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner preferred
