Fabulous Friday at BCHS/Trails & Rails

Fabulous Friday, September 13 at 2 pm: Janice McGregor and Pam Artman Speak on the History of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR)

This month’s Fabulous Friday lecture series will take place on Friday, September 13, at 2:00 pm in the Family History Center at the Trails & Rails Museum, 710 W. 11th St. in Kearney. This month’s speakers, Janice McGregor and Pam Artman, will present on the history of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) in Buffalo County. There are two chapters in Buffalo County. The Fort Kearney Chapter was organized in 1908, and the Shelton Chapter was organized in 1919. Among other things, over the years the DAR chapters have presented Good Citizen Awards to high school students, have placed historical markers in Buffalo County, and have been involved in other service projects. Pam Artman is a member of the Fort Kearney Chapter and Janice McGregor of the Shelton Chapter. Janice McGregor has been a member of the Shelton Chapter of the DAR since 1967. She is a native of Bartley, Nebraska and moved to Gibbon with her husband, Duncan McGregor (a Gibbon native), in 1963. She was a Pharmacist and worked in the central Nebraska area for many years. She is a 1948 graduate of Bartley High School and a 1952 graduate of the University of Nebraska. We are looking forward to another excellent presentation in our Fabulous Friday speaker series, and to hearing the stories of these two important chapters of the DAR.
