Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce Recognized for Law Enforcement Appreciation Event

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Chambers Association has named the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce a Program of the Year Award winner for its impactful Law Enforcement Appreciation Event, which continues to grow as a cornerstone community celebration.
Held each July, the banquet honors the men and women who serve and protect the Kearney community. This year’s event drew a record-breaking 650 attendees, the largest crowd in its five-year history. The evening featured inspiring remarks from astronaut Clayton Anderson, Colonel Bryan Waugh of the Nebraska State Patrol, and Buffalo County Sheriff Neil Miller, along with community displays and sponsor exhibits.
More than 60 businesses and organizations supported the event, which raised $55,000 to fund the Friends of Law Enforcement Scholarship, a new K-9 unit, and community safety initiatives.
“This program stands out as a shining example of community partnership,” said Amber Holle, President of the Nebraska Chambers Association. “The Kearney Chamber has built something truly special—an event that honors service, builds relationships, and gives back in meaningful ways.”
From its humble beginnings with “Donuts with a Cop” and family-friendly activities, the event has evolved into a premier banquet that unites citizens, businesses, and local leaders in appreciation of law enforcement.
“The support from our community has been incredible,” said Derek Rusher, President/CEO of the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce. “We’re proud to celebrate those who keep Kearney safe while strengthening the connection between law enforcement and the people they serve.”
