Annual Kearney Tire & Auto Service "Wipe Out Cancer" Campaign Raises more than $10,000 to help local cancer patients

Kearney Tire & Auto Service is proud to announce their 5th annual "Wipe Out Cancer" campaign raised $1,904.13 last year to help those fighting cancer in central Nebraska. Since starting the campaign to support Kearney Tackles Cancer (KTC), the local business has donated more than $10,000 to the cause.

Don Jaeschke, owner of Kearney Tire & Auto, and wife Ronda donate a portion of all wiper blades sold throughout the year. And during October, 100 percent of the Wipe Out Cancer pink cancer awareness wiper blades go to KTC.

KTC, a youth-led organization, is made up of students from Kearney High School and Kearney Catholic High School, and adult sponsors from Kearney Public Schools and CHI Health Good Samaritan. All money donated to KTC goes directly to local cancer patients to assist with the purchase of medication, travel, food, and other expenses.

"We are so thankful for the donations from Kearney and surrounding areas to support families with cancer here at home. The funds help families with such things as groceries, medicine, utility bills, and fuel to name a few. Any amount, no matter how large or small, can make such a big difference in helping families meet household obligations and buy gas to attend their treatment appointments," says Dana Welsh, supervisor, CHI Health Regional Cancer Center at Good Samaritan. Welsh has volunteered as an KTC adult sponsor since the group began in 2008.

Kearney Tire & Auto is at 801 E. 25th Street. For more information, call, 308-237-5534.
