Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska knows that the building blocks of a healthier state start in each community. Whether it’s neighbors encouraging each other to take a walk, or community centers setting up friendly fitness competitions—the inspiration to get up, get moving, get healthy will not come from a brochure or a newsletter. The most effective fitness tool is the encouragement of a friend and the understanding that small changes really do make a big difference. During the past four years, 24 Nebraska communities have received 35 BCBSNE Wellness Grants totaling $333,000.
Recipients for the 2012 BCBS grant include 2 projects from Kearney.
