From Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve – the ring of a Salvation Army bell outside storefronts is part of the holiday season as much as a jolly greeting from a white-bearded man. However, to address ongoing community needs throughout the year such as warm meals, clothing, housing, disaster relief, and much more – the time of giving needs to extend beyond the holiday season.
The NMC Foundation is proud to sponsor the first annual Red Kettle Run at Yanney Park in Kearney, Nebraska. Runners – and walkers – should have their tennis shoes laced up before the starting pistol goes off at 9am on Saturday, September 19th. The entry fee for the 5K run and walk is a $10 donation or 10 non-perishable food items. This event is a great opportunity to raise funds and stock the Salvation Army’s pantry shelves for those in need in the Kearney community.
Throughout the event there will be refreshments provided. And, if you’ve ever wanted the chance to catch a flapjack in midair – the Pancake Man will be on site to dish them out.
The Red Kettle Run and Walk is a race with no medals for first place; however, everyone who participates can feel like they won since they’ll be making a difference for those in need.
