The Assistant Director for First-Year Recruitment manages the recruitment funnel including the planning and implementation of information, communication, and technology strategies to sustain and increase all stages of undergraduate student recruitment. Supports the creation and execution of the university’s strategic undergraduate recruitment plan. Helps identify and train admissions staff. Guides and fosters collaboration and information-sharing across campus units, colleges and individuals to maximize all efforts supporting the undergraduate student enrollment journey. This position supervises the recruitment teams and related student staff, including training, evaluation, reporting, and ongoing analysis and assessment of performance in specific territories and enrollment engagement processes. This position requires knowledge of the undergraduate application for admission, student information system and customer relationship management system. Is a member of the admissions office’s and the Enrollment Management division’s leadership teams and will be called on to learn and deliver presentations, tours, welcomes; support events and carry out the director’s and other team members’ duties as needed as part of a cross-functional team.
- Provide leadership and management of the recruitment staff, individually and collectively, in the execution of the university’s undergraduate recruitment plan. Recommend ideas for training and opportunities for professional development for admissions recruiters. Responsible for identifying and carrying out strategies and tactics that meet Undergraduate Admissions’ goals. Assess/evaluate performance, report, and adjust actions and resource-allocations based on performance indicators.
- Consult on the development and manage the implementation of a personalized communication strategy guiding prospective students through the application and enrollment process. Coordinate information, communication, and technology strategies including message-identification and delivery (method), generated from both the student information and customer relationship management systems. Work with marketing and CRM teams to map student journeys, support planning, delivery and follow-up on individual communications.
- Serve as the liaison to academic departments and units across campus for the collection and ongoing sharing of information and stories that are shared during the recruitment process.
- Support planning and execution of travel and logistics for the off-campus presentations at high school visits and college fairs across the state and nearby regional events. Develop and maintain relationships with high school staff, faculty and administrators.
- Travel occasionally to presentations, recruitment events and education partner opportunities.
- Coordinate training, assessment and team evaluations based on established territory and unit goals as set by the undergraduate recruitment plan.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required, 3 years of admissions/recruitment or sales experience; supervisory or leadership experience; knowledge of customer relationship management (CRM) and/or student information systems (SIS); experience with data management, reporting and assessment. Occasional evening and weekend work, and travel is required. Must have a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree; experience with Salesforce and/or PeopleSoft systems. Experience in higher education.
